Special Remarks by Dr. Joel Day. Executive Director, San Diego International Affairs Board
Did you know that more than 100 languages are spoken in San Diego and that one in four city residents was born outside the United States? Or that San Diego County tallies more refugee arrivals each year than any other county in California?
With a long history of welcoming and supporting immigrants from all parts of the world, San Diego is one of America’s most culturally and ethnically diverse cities. Who are these immigrants and how do they contribute to San Diego’s vibrant economic and cultural life?
Join us for lunch followed by remarks from Dr. Joel Day, one of San Diego’s leading authorities on the immigrant contribution to America’s Finest City. You will then hear inspiring and enlightening first-person accounts of the immigrant experience in San Diego, as told by immigrants themselves.
