This presentation offers five perspectives on how US leaders and personnel in Vietnam handled their frustrations in a long, destructive war. It suggests that how Americans responded to the limits of their own power—both at home and abroad—shaped the nature of their participation in a Vietnamese conflict, offering important insights for today as the United States continues to employ military force abroad in support of its global foreign policy.
