SDWAC warmly welcomes the International Rescue Committee (IRC) of San Diego Executive Director,Donna Duvin

"From Harm to Home: Arc of the Refugee Crisis: Global Challenges, Local Solutions”

Updated Time: *Tuesday, 25 August 2020: 4-5:15 pm PDT*

Please be advised that we are moving this Speaker Event start-time up to 4-5:15 pm in order to avoid any conflict with the RNC program that evening. The IRC event is a very important presentation about a key topic today that directly impacts our San Diego County and beyond, immigration/emigration/immigrants/refugees/asylum seekers. This is part of America's critical "soft power." This is a  must-see! See you there!

Thank you,

Christine M. Sheckler

President, San Diego World Affairs Council

The IRC San Diego provides support to over 8,000 refugees, asylees, asylum seekers, and immigrants each year. Donna Duvin: In 2015, she joined the International Rescue Committee, a global organization with a presence in 40 countries. She currently serves as the Executive Director. The International Rescue Committee provides opportunities for refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, survivors of torture, and other immigrants to thrive in America. Each year, thousands of people, forced to flee violence and persecution, are welcomed by the people of the United States into the safety and freedom of America. These individuals have survived against incredible odds.

The IRC works with government bodies, civil society actors, and local volunteers to help them translate their past experiences into assets that are valuable to their new communities. In San Diego and other offices across the country, the IRC helps them to rebuild their lives.

The International Rescue Committee responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic well-being, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster.
